Revelo’s LatAm talent network sees strong demand from US companies, thanks to AI

In the evolving landscape of global tech recruitment, Revelo is experiencing a significant surge in demand for Latin American technology professionals from US companies, largely driven by the artificial intelligence boom.

The talent marketplace, which specializes in connecting Latin American software developers and tech professionals with North American companies, reports that requests for AI and machine learning specialists have increased by over 140% in the past year alone.

“What we’re witnessing is a perfect storm of factors,” explains Lucas Mendes, CEO and co-founder of Revelo. “US companies are facing critical talent shortages in emerging AI fields while simultaneously looking to optimize costs. Latin American developers offer the technical expertise, time zone alignment, and cost advantages that make them particularly attractive in this market.”

According to Revelo’s latest data, developers specializing in machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch are in highest demand, followed by data scientists and AI engineers with natural language processing experience.

The company, which was founded in 2015 and has offices in São Paulo and San Francisco, has seen its network grow to over 1 million tech professionals across Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and Chile. Revelo reports that its placements have increased by 85% year-over-year, with AI-related roles accounting for nearly a third of all new positions.

Tech industry analysts point to several factors driving this trend. “Latin America has invested heavily in technical education over the past decade,” notes Maria Rodriguez, principal researcher at Forrester. “Combined with the region’s growing startup ecosystem, this has created a deep talent pool of developers who are experienced in the exact technologies US companies are desperate to find.”

Cost considerations also play a significant role. With AI specialists commanding salaries well over $200,000 in Silicon Valley, Latin American talent typically offers savings of 30-50% while maintaining comparable quality and significantly higher retention rates.

The time zone alignment—with most Latin American countries operating in the same zones as the US—provides collaborative advantages that offshore destinations in Asia cannot match. This has proven especially valuable for AI development, which often requires close integration with business teams.

US companies utilizing Revelo’s services range from early-stage AI startups to Fortune 500 enterprises. Jonathan Bass, CTO of Boston-based AI healthcare startup Medilect, shared his experience: “We initially turned to Revelo to extend our budget, but the quality of the machine learning engineers we’ve hired from Brazil and Colombia has been exceptional. They’ve integrated seamlessly with our US team.”

Revelo’s success comes as other Latin American tech platforms like Terminal, Torres, and BairesDev also report increasing demand. The trend represents a potential economic boon for the region, with technology service exports becoming an increasingly important sector.

“This is creating opportunities not just for individual developers but for entire tech ecosystems across Latin America,” said Mendes. “As AI development continues to accelerate, we expect this demand to grow even stronger through 2025 and beyond.”

As US immigration policies remain restrictive and domestic tech talent scarcity persists, particularly in specialized AI roles, Latin American developers are positioned to benefit from what appears to be a long-term shift in global tech hiring practices.
